Why Use Cold Processed Soaps?
Have you ever tried handmade organic or all natural cold processed soap? If you haven’t, I encourage you to try a bar. Cold process soaps are healthier for your skin and make great gifts for yourself, family or friends.
I grew up using soap my grandmother made from lye and tallow (animal fat) and never had issues with dry skin. Once I was on my own and buying soap from the store I noticed a gradual increase in dry, flaky skin. I tried various lotions and potions trying to keep my skin from getting worse. It wasn't until I started having issues with eczema that I starting really researching options.
I found that cold processed soaps retain the natural gylcerin that is a natural by-product of soap making. What glycerin does is attract moisture to your skin. Most commercial soaps are missing this ingredient or it has been dramatically reduced. This why your skin can feel tight and dry after bathing and require you to use lotion.
I have been making cold processed soaps for a long time and my sking has now recovered but it was a slow process. I will never use commercial soaps again. You will be able to tell a difference in how your skin feels too once you begin using all natural cold processed soaps. I certainly did and so has my family and friends.
